Applicant Eligibility

 

Married couples are accepted.

 

Single applicants are accepted for older children (8+) or children with special needs.

 

Age difference between the applicants and adopted child is not set by Polish adoption law, however it is recommended that adoptive applicants be no more than 40 years older than the child.

 

Available Children

 

Children available for international adoption from Poland are usually 6 years of age and up. Some exceptions apply.

 

Children are cared for in orphanage and foster home environments, depending on the child’s needs and available resources in the child’s region. Sibling groups are available.

 

Wait times are typically 12 months or less.

Travel Requirements

 

Two trips to Poland may be required. There is a ‘referral’ visit to the orphanage and two Court hearings. The duration of the adoption process is several weeks. The process could also be completed with a single trip to Poland of several weeks.
